The meaning of the Logos

Born September 9, 1959 in Kingston / Jamaica. 1965-1971  - Primary school in the USA and Switzerland.1972-1980 - Secondary school and diploma middle school in Zurich.1980-1983 - Training as a pediatric nurse in Zurich.1983-1986 - Work in hospitals such as the Children's Hospital in Zurich and Neuchâtel, humanitarian work as a pediatric nurse in Africa.1986-1990 - Family; two children, painting courses and self-study.1997 - Opening of own practice "Aloha", for craniosacral therapy and holistic bodywork.1993-2009 - Autodidactic experimentation with different painting techniques.2009-2012 - Additional painting courses for further study, ZHdK (Zurich University of the Arts), at the Zurich Adult Education Center and courses abroad.My supporting teachers were: Heinz Kropf, Lukas Salzmann, Peter Grenauer, Brigitte Guhle, Jeannette Hämmerle,Jolanda Meier, Serge Pinkus, Andrea Muheim and Martina von Schulthess.2012 - Active member of the Zurich Artists' Association.2012 - Group exhibition "Bunte Palete" at the Kulturmarkt, 8003 Zurich.2014 - Solo exhibition "Colours of Jamaica" at Villa Seerose, Horgen.2014 - Juried group exhibition KVZ (Artists Association Zurich) at Kunstraum Bellerive, 8008 Zurich.2015 - Solo exhibition "Precious Day" at Zurich - Wollishofen2019 - Group exhibition "Freiraum" Horgen.2022 - Solo exhibition "Goddesses", Embracing the Divine Feminine, Galerie 111, Zweierstrasse 111, 8003 Zurich.2025 - Solo exhibition "Magic of Colours" Restaurant Rössli, Webereistrasse, 8134 Adliswil. | ||

My passion for painting and interest in people were already present in my childhood. Whenever I painted, I was filled with a nourishing feeling of happiness. As an ideal option, I initially turned to people professionally as a pediatric nurse, later as a cranio-sacral therapist, movement educator and yoga teacher. At the same time, painting remained the source of my life force. Since 2009, I have been following my calling, painting, as a freelance artist. As a Swiss woman with Jamaican roots, I see myself as a bridge builder between different cultures. My colorful, bright works are characterized by a good mix of the Caribbean sun and humane and peaceful Switzerland. It is reminiscent of reggae music in picture form. My inspirations are daily life, joy, the abundance of nature, sunlight and meditation. I am particularly inspired by portrait art. Capturing the unique facial expressions of each person fascinates me again and again. For me, making portraits seems like a trip around the world. There is so much to see, to discover, to experience... a rush for all the senses. The longer we spend together, sharing highs and lows, the more intense our encounter becomes. Each person is a universe in itself. Miraculous encounters arise through the heart connection. Every being with its own luminosity of color is a mystery. Impulses of intuition and creativity are, for me, the nectar of life. My works of art are strongly influenced by the symbolism of the accents of the Caribbean luminosity, as well as the meaning of the complementary objects. The enthusiasm is boundless, to immerse myself again and again in this beloved splendor of colors and shapes of painting. I like to let myself be accompanied by the now and the I AM CONSCIOUSNESS, for me the essence of life. |
